The Intel AppUpSM developer program slogan is, "multiple devices, multiple OS', multiple app stores; one program". Along those lines we've been working to get AppUp as a framework for retailers, service providers and device manufacturers. Currently there around 20 AppUp powered stores and AppUp supports Windows and MeeGo devices. However, we, along with our developers, have been anxiously waiting for AppUp to be preinstalled and shipping on a device from an OEM. Today we see that is the case in this unboxing video from Johannes of NewGadgetsDE.
The video takes you thru this sleek new netbook, and looks at the MeeGo OS that's been customized by ASUS. At around minute 6:44 you can see the ASUS app store, and as it launches its is unmistakably AppUp.
So if you're wanting to develop an app for MeeGo but are waiting until AppUp ships on a device in market, looks like we're ready for ya :-)

One of the coolest parts of my job is when I'm asked to review a fun new app in AppUp. And so is the case today. For the last 30 minutes I've been having fun with an exclusive version of Angry Birds from Rovio made available to AppUp stores. I have the early release for testing but from what I understand by the time this blog post goes live Angry Birds will be available in all AppUp center stores. That includes the Intel AppUp Center store as well as the AppUp stores from Best Buy, Best Buy Canada, Future Shop, Dixons, Asus, Croma, HSN, New Egg and TigerDirect etc. (forgive me for any stores not listed as the latest list is ever growing). Thus the first version of Angry Birds for netbooks is exclusively available from Intel's AppUp Center stores. Scoop for AppUp!

Smart solutions are a new category of software that operates at the crossroads of high processing power and interactive user interfaces. At Uncut Video, we have developed libraries for semantic analysis of video, image and audio and are bringing this to consumer Apps with the MeeGo open source platform.
If you are from a Windows development background, you may find it quite daunting to enter the world of MeeGo which may feel a little bit alien. Indeed some of the methods to start MeeGo development would assume you have a working knowledge of non-Windows operating systems.
You can think of this article as a short-cut to getting started as quickly as possible, which gratifyingly removes the need to learn lots of things you probably didn’t need to know. This article also provides a video of the entire process by way of a real world example.
