Another exciting news to share. Yesterday, Imad Sousou, the MeeGo Technical Steering Committee co-chairman, announced the MeeGo v1.0 project release.

This release provides developers with a stable core foundation for application development and a rich user experience for Netbooks. This is the latest step in the evolution of MeeGo. MeeGo v1.0 is the first release to the community following the announced merging of Intel’s Moblin and Nokia’s Maemo operating system projects.

Developers can get a first glimpse at the new Meego Mobile OS

On March 31, 2010, Imad Sousou shared that the efforts of the worldwide Nokia and Intel teams to share the MeeGo operating system code with the open source community is here. This is the latest step in the evolution of Maemo and Moblin. The repositories are open and move the ongoing development work into the open - as we set out to do from the beginning.

The MeeGo distribution infrastructure and the operating system base from the Linux kernel to the OS infrastructure up to the middleware layer.
