Intel AppUp at the Game Developers Conference, March 5-9



It's that time of year, again - we can't wait to see you all at the 25th annual Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, March 5-9, 2012!

The Intel AppUp developer program team will be at the event in full force and we'll be looking to meet you and hear about your apps! Some of our activities at the show include:

  • Before GDC, we'll be participating in the AngelHack 2 hackathon - code an Intel AppUp app in 30 hours and have a chance to win an Ultrabook!
  • App Showcase in the Intel booth (#1024) on the show floor; stop by to check out the Intel AppUp center
    March 7-8 from 9am-6pm and March 9 from 9am-3pm
  • Intel booth (#1024) theater presentations; check booth on-site for details
  • GDC sessions on Thursday, March 8 - come learn about our Intel AppUp developer program SDKs (HTML5!)
  • ... and much more!

Intel AppUp Mobile Hackathon Winners Announced!

I am pleased to announce the winners for the first Intel AppUp Mobile Hackathon! We had 10 great apps produced in 36 hours over 812 miles of road for this event, and all were simply amazing.

Visit the Intel AppUp developer program at IDF 2011!

Developers, make sure to swing by and visit the Intel AppUp developer program at the Intel Developer Forum this week!

We're located in the IDF Technology Showcase in the Intel Software Community and will be showing off our developer program and Intel AppUp center apps running on a variety of brand new hardware in different form factors.

We also have a panel session on Thursday, September 15 at 1:05pm (room 2009) led by our Intel AppUp Community Manager, Bob Duffy, on "Apps Across the Continuum: Developing Apps for Multiple Devices".

Our Intel AppUp Mobile Hackathon bus ride will leave San Francisco the morning of September 26 and ride to Ashland, Oregon to stay the night. The next day (September 27), the bus will take off again and arrive in Bellevue, WA at the Hyatt Regency where Intel AppUp Elements 2011 is taking place.

The 3rd annual worldwide Global Game Jam is underway! GGJ was founded in 2008 as an IGDA event to broaden the outreach of the game education while giving the world an opportunity to create games in the world’s largest Game Jam to date. The GGJ prides itself on collaboration, both in organizing as well as making of games.

Intel AppUp Developer Program at AdobeMAX 2010!

Hey everyone! If you're in Los Angeles this week for AdobeMAX 2010, you won't be disappointed! Come visit the Intel AppUp developer program in the Intel booth (#307) in the exhibition hall starting tomorrow (Monday, Oct 25) at 12PM. Also, stop by for our first session by Bob Duffy at 2PM on 10/25 in room 506; he'll be talking about distributing AIR apps via the AppUp Center. On Tuesday, October 26 take a walk on the technical side at our Intel AppUp developer program technical session by Norm Chou in room 511C at 1:30PM.

Adobe and Intel Application Lab was a success!

We had a blast at the Adobe and Intel Application Lab in San Francisco on July 21! There were approximately 140 attendees who came down for pizza, beer and lots of technical discussion – and another 40 users watched via our live webcast. The event was just the beginning of new programs to drive AIR application momentum for Intel AppUp Center, and began with an announcement of the availability of the Adobe AIR SDK.

Getting up to speed with Moblin 2.1

I have entered the world of Moblin with my Asus Eee 1005HA netbook, and I am loving it so far! I've been move productive on the go this week and I am having a lot of fun doing it!

Surprising experiences with my netbook

So everyone is asking ... just what is the big deal with netbooks these days? I used to be in that camp too before I got my new Toshiba mini netbook. I always just used to think "So what, it's a little PC." and "Why would I want one of these? I already have a laptop." Well I will tell you, I've been thrown for a loop with my new little netbook -- and that doesn't happen very often because I am a gadget freak and have new hardware passing through my hands all the time.
