Here’s my list of key reasons you may want to wait on submitting an app.
- It’s just too simple:
Since its only requires you take existing C or C++ code and submit via the Atom Developer Program Beta SDK, you are not using enough of your god given talents in porting and rewriting code. - The space is not yet crowded enough:
It’s so much more rewarding to wait until there a 100,000 apps so to properly earn your way on the Hot List. That way you know your boss has context when you send him the screenshot of your game featured in the AppUp Center - Netbooks are too common:
Why sell games to a very broad set of Netbook users, when you can create a high end game that works best for a focused group of users that make up the extreme hardware crowd - Busy learning another architecture:
You’ve already got Intel Architecture down, so you are busy learning how to write or port your apps to the many proprietary devices you just saw at CES - Gotta burn thru agency budget:
You budgeted your agencies to review the new landscape of app opportunities, and you’ve gotta give that money a chance to burn this quarter before they give you a recommendation - Distribution buddies:
You have friends who count on you to take up shelf space, and this online model of virtual store fronts with leading OEMs is just too risky for them - Markup on those boxes and CDs:
You’re making a good mark-up on the cost of CD’s & packaging, and hate to see that incremental revenue dry up - Fewer titles:
Because you can post and sell components, it’s possible you can make money without creating full fledged games, and you know your Mom, just won’t get that you’re making a mint on something called a “mobile asynchronous social gaming status API”
So if you missed our info from CES this may not have gotten you up to speed, but be sure to consider these points as you wait to submit your game. However, on the off chance you see a benefit in the ease of submitting your existing applications, or if you recognize a market opportunity in the Netbook space, I guess you could go ahead and submit your game as soon as you finish this post. Your call really:-)

Mixing facts with a little comedy made for a good read. Being that programming is largely logical, this subjective attitude is missed. Thanks for the great post.
@Youda Games. Intel's AppUp Center store is a direct publishing model. If you'd like to see your application in our store, please register for this program, download the SDK at this site, and submit your application. If your app passes validation it will appear in the store.
I suggest checking out the Learn, Develop & Sell sections of this site to get started.
If you have questions or issues, check out the forums on this site.
@Car Transport, yes this is a similar to the Apple App Store, but for distribution of apps to Netbooks and other Atom powered devices. If you are interested in getting an app in, registered and join the program then download the SDK and review our validation guidelines before submitting your app.
Good idea too bad it doens't work, app doesn't work at all unless you sign in, if you try to make an account so you can sign in the app crashes, their website has no where to make accounts so its physically impossible to even use intel appup so why submit a game if no new users can EVER sign up and if they cant sign up they can't buy.
either way terrible program until they fix it, kinda pathetic a company like intel would even release this half hacked together hunk of crap and call it a program
what programmer failed out of school made this and convinced intel to slap their name on it to make it seem legit
