This title also recognizes members for their time and effort to help make Intel AppUpSM Developer Program a valuable developer resource.

What are the benefits of being a Intel® Black Belt Software Developer?

This is the highest level of reputation on the Intel AppUpSM Developer Program. The title 'Intel® Black Belt Software Developer (App Development)' is associated with the following benefits:

What are the criteria for selection of Intel® Black Belt Software Developers?

An Intel® Black Belt Software Developer (App Development) is nominated based on the following criteria:

  • Number of applications & components submitted and validated
  • Consistent delivery of high-performance, innovative applications and components (# of downloads, rating and reviews received by the application/ component).

Intel® Black Belt Software Developer (Community Leadership) is selected based on quality and quantity of contributions i.e. the technical expertise; community leadership and support members bring to Intel AppUpSM Developer Program Community. Specific criteria considered while selecting members include:

  • Technical expertise
  • Regular discussion forum activity
  • Guidance and support provided to other community members
  • Submission of content/ white papers
  • Overall community participation

Typically Intel® Black Belt Software Developers will be nominated from amongst members with Red Belt Software Developer status, however this is not mandatory. Members can also be nominated directly to a Black Belt level based on exceptional contributions.

What is the process of selection?

To ensure a rigorous and robust selection process for the Intel® Black Belt Software Developer title, we have a selection team comprising of our community managers, tools experts, and application engineers. This team meets as required to nominate new members and review, validate the level of contributions of these members for the past one year. Intel® Black Belt Software Developers are selected by this team based on the criteria listed above.

Are Intel employees also selected for this title?

Although Intel employees who are members of Intel AppUpSM Developer Program can be awarded the title, employees are not eligible for any of the benefits associated with the title.

What is the lifetime of the title?

The Intel® Black Belt Software Developer Award lasts for the duration of one year.

As long as you keep contributing actively on the forums and publishing applications/components, you may re-new your title, however this is an internal decision at the discretions of the community managers.

An Intel® Black Belt Software Developer (App Development) is nominated based on the following criteria:
* Number of applications & components submitted and validated
* Consistent delivery of high-performance, innovative applications and components (# of downloads, rating and reviews received by the application/ component).

Please also note that the Intel® Black Belt Software Developer is given by a selected team of community managers, tool experts and application engineers. It is not given automatically.

Am I correct to assume that it is one full year for each point award? Meaning that all points are not zeroed out on Jan1? Thank You.
